Hey everybody. Day six was one of ups and downs, well actually more craziness than anything else. Woke up this morning in a hotel (still taking advantage), and immediately started my laundry. It consisted of a bathroom sink, a bar of soap and a hair dryer. In case anyone is interested, I am thinking of starting a dry cleaning business when I get back. Think I will call it Hop Sinks (everyone in Laguna is really laughing at that one because we have hop sings). Anyways, everything was going great until I burned out the hair dryer from running it for an hour straight. After climbing out the window, I started walking. I actually had to adjust my route so that I could go to REI to get new walking poles and a new water bladder and some hiking shoes (which will also be donated to the streets of the 909 piece by piece also), and some sun screen, which I found out in tonight's hot shower, was purchased way too late. So you see, we are not really so different, you and I. I too spent my Saturday shopping in a crowded store. I also found out that REI stands for, Really Expensive Items. I am a member there and I still am a bit shocked at the register. I had to check to see if said Versace on the damn walking poles. So once again I was stepping off into the heat. I was fortunate enough to meet a woman on a trail who told me about a short cut. My military buddies and I call this a "partisan link up." I believe she was part of the 909 resistance and helped me infiltrate the next city. I never got her, or her beautiful daughters names, but i told her thanks and viva la resistaunce. After infilling under the darkening sky or as we call it, hours of limited visibility, all hell broke loose. As i'm sure most could tell by seeing the locate Lance page, Spot got off his leash and started chasing some sexy little hand held GPS that he spotted, he ended up humping the owners leg becuse the GPS was up too high. In between guys flashing gang signs at me and chasing Spot, I some how ended up, going backwards and ended up here. Actually i was trying to make a smiley face with my Spot coordinates for my mom for mothers day but it ended up looking like that Gretta lady from CNN. Just so we have this straight , I was not lost. Tomorrow is mothers day and I would like to take the opportunity to wish all you moms and soon to be moms and past moms, a very Happy Mothers Day. And to my mom, if you are reading this, thank you for always being there and supporting my journey, even though I know you are worried about me. You know that I have been in worse situations and I have always come home. I think of you always and I love you and miss you most, at the dimming of the day. Moms and dads, hug those kids and don't let go. Thanks for being a part of day six.
*One in honor of Mothers Day. Mackenzie's nickname from her mom was Gooders. I never knew why and I never asked, it was between a mother and her daughter.
