Today was a day of rest and recovery as per doctors orders. Don't get me wrong, I get it, rest will help the condition or injury or whatever it is. Understand, that to me, it is ridiculous that no one can tell me what it is exactly, but they can tell me how to combat it and what medications I need. I am frustrated that I have never experienced anything like this, but it is nothing that will stop me, as I stated before. I am in Flagstaff still and I am doing what I can do to remain here. I would like to get moving but I know the earliest it will happen is Monday.
Met a cool girl today named Roxie, who I found out is paying the price for a DUI and is living through a difficult time trying to get her life back. She regrets what she did and wants to live a better life. She was a young woman when it happened and has a chance to overcome it while she is still young, I wish her luck. I feel the need to write about the heartbreaking sight that I see everyday out here. As I walk out here daily, I am staggered in my steps by the number of crosses I see on the side of all of our roads, trails and highways.
It is mind boggling how many people we lose to drunk drivers across the countryside. There are multiple crosses in some places, such as the four crosses in one place I saw on the road side a few days ago, where it said, all killed by a drunk driver. I always to try and stop and spend a moment at each one I see. It is horrible to know that there are this many people that have had to experience what I live with everyday. I have come to call this place with all of the crosses "Arlington USA." If ever I write a story, it is what I would call it. Thanks for being a part of day thirty four.
* Mackenzie was an amazing dancer ever since she was a little girl. She had rhythm and an ear for music and beat. She didn't always show it because it wasn't always crazy enough for her, like with her friends when she was goofing off but when I would pick her up from her hip hop class early, I used to watch her and be amazed by her moves for her age.
